In 1986, the Fairview Park Education Foundation established its first scholarship. Since then, we have been awarding scholarships to outstanding Fairview High School seniors.
This year, the Foundation proudly awards the following 21 scholarships totaling $28.000 and 10 Polaris Trade Grants totaling $3,000:

Fairview Park Education Foundation’s 2025 Scholarship Recipients:
Dr. John Babel Memorial Scholarship — Established in 2016 in honor of the 3rd Superintendent of the Fairview Park City Schools. Dr. Babel was born in upstate New York, and upon his high school graduation, he was intent on staying on the family farm. His father encouraged him to continue schooling, pursuing a teaching certificate and later a master’s degree. He was the first in his family to attain a college degree and continued to complete his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. He taught at Cleveland State University for 25 years and was a member of the Rotarian Club for over 35 years. Dr. Babel’s life was changed by those in education, and he believed in the value of lifelong learning.
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a senior pursuing a career in education.
This year’s recipient is Joseph Castro

Joseph graduates Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.15. He has elected to continue his education at Cleveland State University to pursue a Social Studies Education degree. He was active for three years in Student Government as Class Representative, Secretary, and President. He ran Cross Country in his sophomore year and participated in Track and Field in his junior and senior years. Joseph was active in the Young Marines during his high school career and held many roles and ranks, including a Recruit Instructor, Regimental 1st Sergeant, Unit GySgt, Unit Community Service Representative, Platoon Leader, and finally a Regimental Sergeant Major. His career goals include being a high school social studies teacher while coaching track and field and pursuing an administrative role within the education system to support student success and well-being.

Frank W. Barr Memorial Scholarship — Established in 1990 in honor of the 2nd Superintendent of the Fairview Park City Schools, who served from 1964 to 1979. Dr. Barr was a member of many professional educational organizations as well as many community groups.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to a senior pursuing a humanities or liberal arts major at a college or university.
This year’s recipient is Mia Karp

Mia graduates Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.24 and plans to attend Kent State University with an English major and a double minor in Creative Writing and Communications. During high school, she was active in the Orchestra, Stagecrafters, Key Club, the GSA, and Girls’ Bowling. Mia received numerous honors, including AP Scholar, AP Seminar & Research Certification, Honor Roll, Musicianship Award, Solo & Ensemble Highest Score, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Cello Section Leader in both Chamber and String Orchestras. She hopes to write not only as a career but also write fiction and poetry in her spare time.
Roger Canfield Baseball Scholarship – Established in 2024 through donations from Fairview High School Alumni baseball players wanting to recognize their coach. Roger worked at the Fairview Park City Schools for thirty-eight years as a social studies/economics teacher and JV/Varsity coach in multiple sports, one being baseball. He participated as a youth advisor with the Recreation Center, providing youth coaching and summer sports clinics. He also managed the fields at Bohlken Park.
The $500 scholarship is to be awarded to an outstanding varsity baseball athlete showing great leadership, respect, and acknowledgment for outstanding sportsmanship during their sports career. A minimum of at least two years in the sport is required, including senior year.
This year’s recipient is Brayden Weir

Brayden is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.17 with plans to attend Ohio University with a major in Business. He participated in National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Student Government, Key Club, Warrior Athletic Council, as well as being a multi-year letterman in Baseball, Soccer, and Football, where he was captain his senior year. Additionally, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels for three years, accumulating over one hundred hours. Although Brayden is not certain of his career choice at this time, he has been leaning towards sport management to leverage his passion for sports.

Mary Lou Chalfant Memorial Social Studies Scholarship — Mary Lou was a social studies teacher at Fairview High School for many years. She was an avid supporter of the Fairview High School arts programs, especially the theater department. She never missed the opportunity to attend a performance during her tenure at the high school. When she retired, the scholarship was established.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding social studies student pursuing a career in Social Sciences or Social Studies Education, or someone active in the theater programs at Fairview High School.
This year’s recipient is Grace Bostwick

Grace will graduate with a GPA of 4.04 earning Summa Cum Laude and plans to attend Cleveland State University to study Public Policy at the acclaimed Levin College of Urban & Education Studies. She was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and Stagecrafters for one. Throughout her high school career, Grace was a lesson student through RAD Horsemanship & Training as an equestrian. She volunteered with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society during her senior year and volunteered at the Cleveland Kids Book Bank in her junior and senior years. Grace plans to be a public servant in Ohio with hopes of internships during college to help develop a solid career path.
Bruce Linden Cherkala Memorial Scholarship — Established in 1991 by the Cherkala Family in memory of their son, Bruce, who graduated from Fairview High School in 1968. While at FHS, Bruce was an honor student and a letterman in football and tennis. Bruce graduated from Denison University and then Case Western Reserve School of Medicine with an M.D. degree. Bruce passed away suddenly in 1982.
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who will pursue science or mathematics at a college or university.
This year’s recipient is Averly Stryjewski

Averly will graduate with a 3.7 GPA and plans to study Biochemistry on the Pre-Dentistry track at Kent State University. As an active student, she participated in Key Club for three years, Warrior Athletic Council her senior year, Yearbook for three years, Show Choir and Chorale for 2 years, and Student Council for two years, where she was elected Executive Board Vice President her senior year. Additionally, she played Volleyball for three years, Drill Team for three years, and Golf for one year. After graduating from Kent State University, Averly plans to attend dental school in Ohio to become a dentist and hopes to travel the world with France and Greece at the top of her list!
Laura Dean Memorial Scholarship — Established in March 2001 through a bequest of funding from the estate of a former Fairview Park teacher and former Fairview High principal, Laura Dean. Ms. Dean’s teaching and administrative career in the Fairview Park City Schools began in 1929 and lasted for 45 years. Her first assignment was teaching mathematics to elementary students, and later she served as the second principal of Fairview High School. It was at her request that scholarships be given to young women pursuing a career in math.
Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year to deserving graduating female seniors pursuing careers in mathematics or the field of applied mathematics.
This year’s first recipient is Lily Hall

Lily will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.32 and plans to Kent State University to study Computer Science with a specialty in game programming and a minor in game design. Her goal is to program for a large company so she can eventually create her own game development studio. Lily had a very active high school career where she was a member of Key Club, National Technical Honors Society, String and Chamber Orchestra (Viola Principal), Stagecrafters Pit Orchestra, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Orchestra Council (Secretary), Stagecrafters Crew, GSA (Co-President) and the Yearbook Committee (Editor).
This year’s second recipient is Akira Wilson

Akira will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.41 and will attend Cleveland State University where she plans to study Computer Science. Akira was a 4-year member of Key Club and GSA, where she served as the Secretary in her senior year. Her sophomore year, she was part of the First Ring Leadership Institute as well. Akira was on the Track & Field and Soccer teams all four years and was chosen as captain of her soccer team in her senior year. She aspires to become a software engineer and manage data as well as back-end development.
Keith Devine Family Firefighting/Criminal Justice Scholarship – Established in 2024 by Keith Devine to encourage more people to commit to giving of themselves to protect the life and property of others. Both firefighting and criminal justice are very satisfying and rewarding careers. Keith was a thirty-year Cleveland Firefighter, and his dad was a twenty-five-year Cleveland Police Officer. He realizes firsthand the importance of public service in our communities, and he wants to assist in supporting these students to become successful after graduation.
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student pursuing a career in firefighting or criminal justice.
This year’s recipient is Patrick Canfield

Patrick will graduate with a 3.47 GPA and his EMT certificate from Cuyahoga Community College. He plans to pursue BSA / Nursing at Ohio University with the goal of being a full-time firefighter at a suburban fire department while working part-time as a nurse. Patrick played Football and wrestled all four years of high school, and played Baseball for three. In addition, he participated in the Warrior Athletic Council and Young Life.

Fairview High School Class of 1973 Alumni Scholarship — Established in 2024, in honor of their 50th Fairview High School class reunion. The Alumni of the Class of 1973 generously donated the money for a scholarship to use towards the college education of future FHS graduates.
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a senior pursuing a career in education.
This year’s recipient is Ava Davis

Ava plans to attend Baldwin Wallace University in the fall to pursue a Music Education degree to teach music and orchestra at a public or private school. She was a member of the Chamber Orchestra for four years and was the President and Concert Master in her junior and senior years. She participated in Stagecrafters and was part of the Pit Orchestra. Additionally, she participated in the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory Summer Institute for three years and their Spring Chamber program her sophomore year. During her junior and senior years, she was part of Mighty Goliath Productions and the Drill Team in her senior year.

Fairview High School Class of 2020 Scholarship — Established in 2020 by the Fairview High School Class of 2020 After Prom Committee through a donation of funds that were set aside for the Class of 2020 to use towards their prom and after prom. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, students were unable to have the same prom and after-prom that previous graduates enjoyed. The After Prom Committee generously donated the money for a scholarship to use towards the college education of future FHS graduates.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to a student with a hardworking spirit who has persevered through obstacles throughout their high school career. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a GPA of 3.0 and above and is well-rounded in school and community activities.
This year’s recipient is Tala Safi

Tala will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA with plans to attend Cleveland State University in their dentistry program with the goal of becoming a dentist. Her goal is to help people smile, both through her profession and through acts of kindness.

FHS Class of 2020 After Prom Committee members Kathy Reilley and Joslyn Dalton presented the scholarship to Tala.
Fairview High School Class of 2023 Scholarship — Established in 2024 by the Fairview High School Class of 2023 After Prom Committee through money that remained from their class fundraising. The Alumni of the Class of 2023 generously donated the money for a scholarship to use towards the college education of future FHS graduates.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to a hardworking student with a median GPA (2.5-3.0) who has been involved in at least one high school club or activity for at least two years of their high school career, including their senior year.
This year’s recipient is Kelly Anderson

Kelly graduates with a 3.0 GPA and plans to attend Bowling Green State University to pursue a degree in Public Relations. She was on Student Council for three years and was Executive President her senior year. Kelly was a member of the Show Choir for three years and on the Golf team her sophomore through senior years when she was selected as Captain.
Maxine Field Memorial Scholarship —Established in 2016 by the Field children in memory of their mother, Maxine A. Field (nee Waack). Maxine was a proud resident of Fairview Park. She graduated from FHS in 1948, where she was head majorette for the marching band. In 1948, she represented Fairview Park and the State of Ohio as Miss Ohio in the Miss America pageant. In 1966, Maxine again represented Fairview Park and Ohio as Mrs. Ohio in the Mrs. America pageant. Maxine was a model and fashion coordinator for many local stores and malls. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, and the theater, where she acted in many local little theater productions and musicals.
The $1,000 scholarship is to be awarded to a deserving graduating senior who will be pursuing a career in either the fashion industry or music (especially theater, singing, and/or dancing).
This year’s recipient is Annaliese Monahan

Annaliese will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.3 and plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to pursue a degree in Theater Production and Design: Stage Design & Scenic Art. Annaliese was a 2-year member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honors Society, and the Ski Club. As a 4-year member of Stagecrafters, she was an Assistant Stage Manager her sophomore year, Set Designer her senior year, and actor and prop crew for three years. She was the International Thespian Society’s Troupe Vice President in her junior year and President in her senior year. Additionally, she was part of the Chamber Orchestra throughout her high school career and held various leadership roles. Annaliese ran Track for three years and was on the Bowling team for one. She volunteered with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and works at Beck Center for the Arts as a scenic artist and carpenter. Annaliese’s long-term goal is to work on a national tour or Broadway production, but she plans to work at a Midwest regional theater until that time.
Dorothy Graab Memorial Scholarship — Established in 2013 by the children of Donald and Janet Graab Miller in memory of their mother, Dorothy Graab. After high school graduation, she attended Northwestern University, where she majored in chemistry. Dorothy continued to study piano until college graduation in 1948. She then joined the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), a forerunner of NASA, as a chemist at the Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dorothy was an active volunteer in civic and community groups. She served as PTA president multiple times and was an elected Fairview Park City Schools Board of Education member, ultimately serving as president. A lifelong lover of music, Dorothy was an accomplished piano player who took great pleasure and pride over the years in supporting the Cleveland Orchestra.
The $750 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is active in one or more music programs but is not necessarily pursuing that at a college or university.
This year’s recipient is Chloe O’Neil

Chloe graduates Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.94 with plans to pursue Pharmaceuticals at Ohio Northern University. She participated in the Marching Band and Concert Band throughout her high school career and also served as the Section Leader and Band Vice President. During her junior and senior years, she also joined the Symphony Orchestra and the Jazz Band. Chloe was a member of the Ski Club, Key Club, and Stagecrafters as well. She cheered for two years, Irish Danced for three years, and volunteered with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society her senior year.
Judson Graab Memorial Scholarship — Established in 2013 by the children of Donald and Janet Graab Miller in memory of their father, Judson Graab. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where he majored in chemistry. Judson’s time at Ohio Wesleyan was interrupted by his service in the US Army during World War II. Upon graduation from college in 1948, he joined the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), a forerunner of NASA, as a chemist at the Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Judson remained at NASA for his entire career, serving as the longtime head of the analytical chemistry department, where he retired in 1978.
Judson was also part of the team of parents who created the Fairview Park Band Boosters and established the annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast. Upon his retirement, Judson worked in the Fairview High School auto shop as a volunteer. His continued support was acknowledged by the Fairview Park Education Association with their Friend of Education Award in 1992.
The $750 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who will pursue a degree in the sciences, preferably chemistry, at a college or university.
This year’s recipient is Corin Canacci

Corin will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.07. She plans to study Pre-Civil Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) with plans to obtain an advanced degree in water technologies. During her high school career, she was a 4-year member of Jazz, Marching, and Concert bands, serving as Section Leader her junior and senior years, Librarian her junior year, and President her senior year. She joined Tri-M Musical Honor Society in her sophomore year and became the Youth Engagement Chair in her junior year and Events Chair during her senior year. Corin was a member of Stagecrafters throughout her high school career and was a Key Club member for three years. She was admitted to the National Technical Honor Society and participated in the Science Olympiad in her junior year. Corin was on the Swim team for four years and was on the Warrior Athletic Council her senior year, when she also volunteered with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Fred J. and Betty J. Helwig Memorial Scholarship — Established in 1999 and fully funded by the Helwig children to honor their parents. The scholarships are awarded to hard-working students who demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, and a desire to succeed even though they face life-changing obstacles with which they are presented. In addition to the scholarship award, the scholarship recipient’s names will be added to a permanent plaque that hangs in the Fairview High School halls to commemorate this award.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded and are renewable for up to a maximum of four years of college.
This year’s first recipient is Alivia Lamontagne

Alivia graduates Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.01 and plans to attend Bowling Green State University to study Political Science with the goal of continuing her education with law school to advocate for minorities and women. She was active in high school, including participating in JEDI Task Force, Mosaic Club, Presidents Club, First Ring Student Leadership Institute, Sources of Strength, and Stagecrafters. Additionally, Alivia was a 3-year Football and Basketball Cheerleader, where she was captain for multiple years. She played Softball for three years and was a 4-year member of Young Life as well.
This year’s second recipient is Michelle Peters

Michelle graduates Summa Cum Laude with a 4.35 GPA. She plans to study Architecture at Kent State University and hopes to travel to Europe to experience the incredible structures and cultures. Michelle joined the National Honor Society in her junior year, the National Technical Honor Society in her senior year, and was a member of Key Club her first two years of high school. She was on the Swim Team her freshman year, and in her junior year, she joined the Track and Field team.
Harold L. Hom Memorial Scholarship —Established in 2022 by the Hom Family in memory of Harold L. Hom, who passed away on September 5, 2022. Harold was a graduate of the FHS Class of 1980. He attended The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He was an active citizen in the Fairview Park community. He volunteered for and supported numerous organizations in Fairview, including the Fairview Park Education Foundation, Fairview Park Youth Association, the Fairview Alumni Association, the Fairview Summerfest Committee, and the Fairview Park Senior Center. He was the 2023 Fairview Park Citizen of the Year. He was also active with Fairview High School by volunteering at career fairs, the FHS After Prom Committee, coaching mock trials, hosting homecoming float building for his children’s high school classes, and volunteering at the Fairview Track and Field Relays. He firmly believed that an individual could make a positive impact on the community and always wanted to do what he could to help future generations.
The $1000 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding graduating senior who has academic achievement, as well as community and school participation, and will be attending higher education. They show the capacity to make an outstanding contribution and impact on their community.
This year’s recipient is Spencer Bruening

Spencer will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 4.29 GPA and will study Chemical Engineering at The Ohio State University with plans to research alternative materials to plastic or alternative methods of ensuring the quality of food. During his high school career, Spencer was active with Student Government, Sources of Strength, First Ring Leadership Committee, Theater, and Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, he played Soccer for four years, swam for three years, ran Track and Field for four years, and ran Cross Country for one year. He was chosen as captain for the Soccer, Swimming, and Track & Field teams.

Harold L. Hom Memorial Scholarship (Fairview Park Education Foundation) — Established in 2022 by the Fairview Park Education Foundation in memory of Harold L. Hom, a husband, father, and friend to many. Harold was a graduate of the FHS Class of 1980. He attended The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He was an active citizen in the Fairview Park community. He volunteered for and supported numerous organizations in Fairview, including the Fairview Park Education Foundation, Fairview Park Youth Association, the Fairview Alumni Association, the Fairview Summerfest Committee, and the Fairview Park Senior Center. He was the 2023 Fairview Park Citizen of the Year. He was also active with Fairview High School by volunteering at career fairs, the FHS After Prom Committee, coaching mock trials, hosting homecoming float building for his children’s high school classes, and volunteering at the Fairview Track and Field Relays. He firmly believed that an individual could make a positive impact on the community and always wanted to do what he could to help future generations.
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who is active in contributing to the betterment of their community through volunteerism, acts of kindness, and participation in organizations or clubs that promote leadership, kindness, selflessness, and devotion to helping people.
This year’s recipient is Maxwell Edwards

Maxwell graduates Summa Cum Laude with a 4.27 GPA with plans to pursue Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University. He joined the National Honor Society in his junior and senior years. He participated in GSA for 3 years, and his sophomore year was part of the First Ring Student Leadership Institute. He was a 4-year runner on the Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Track & Field teams, serving as captain of each in his senior year. Additionally, he wrestled in his senior year and participated in Club Volleyball all four years. Maxwell volunteered as a youth wrestling coach throughout his high school career and volunteered at Colors+ in his first two years. After college, Maxwell aspires to work in a field that combines innovation and sustainability, possibly in renewable energy or automotive design.
Robert V. and Rose T. Kundmueller Memorial Scholarship — Established originally as the Robert V. Kundmueller Memorial Scholarship in 1990 by the Kundmueller Family in memory of their father, Bob. The scholarship is also in memory of their mother, Rose, who passed away on November 14, 2014.
Bob and Rose became residents of Fairview Park as newlyweds in 1955, raising six children who all graduated from Fairview High School. Bob was a local Fairview Park business owner for many years.
Bob was the Fairview Park Education Foundation’s founding treasurer and trustee, a member of numerous civic organizations, and the 1987 Fairview Park Citizen of the Year recipient. Rose was actively involved in the PTA, and both were strong advocates and supporters of the Fairview Park City Schools.
The scholarship is funded on behalf of the proceeds totaling $108,000 from the Robert V. Kundmueller Memorial Golf Tournament. This was the Foundation’s first annual fundraiser that occurred for 18 years.
The scholarship for $3,000 is awarded to a student showing outstanding academic achievement, as well as community and school participation.
This year’s recipient is Allie Stevens

Allie graduates Summa Cum Laude at the top of her class with a GPA of 4.49 and plans to study Political Science and English on a pre-law track at the Honors College of The Ohio State University. She was a 4-year member of Key Club and GSA, where she was President her senior year. Allie joined the National Honor Society in her junior and senior years and was part of the Stage Crew her senior year. She was a member of the Soccer and Track & Field teams throughout her career and was captain of both teams.
Lewis F. Mayer Memorial Scholarship – Established in 1986 in memory of Lewis F. Mayer. He was the first superintendent of the Fairview Park City Schools, serving from 1921 to 1964. Mr. Mayer was a humanitarian of Fairview Park, an educator, and a principal in the Fairview Park City Schools.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding senior pursuing a career in the humanities.
This year’s recipient is Dylan Jankowski

Dylan will graduate Cum Laude with a 3.57 GPA with plans to attend Ohio University and double major in Communications and Journalism. Throughout her high school career, Dylan was a member of Stagecrafters, Student Council, and Show Choir / Chorale, where she served as President as well. She participated in the Yearbook Club for three years, the Key Club for two years, and the Warrior Athletic Council for one year. Additionally, she was a member of the Volleyball and Drill teams, each for three years, and the Golf team her senior year. Feeding her love of singing, she was a Singing Angel her freshman and sophomore years and was a Section Leader and Dance Captain.
Richard C. and Louise K. Nickerson Memorial Scholarship — Established in 2019 through a bequest of funding from the estate of Louise K. Nickerson. Ms. Nickerson worked her entire life and was successful at a job she loved, even though she did not attend college. However, during her adult life, she realized the importance of higher education, and thus she requested to help provide financial aid to students attending college.
Two $1,000 scholarships are to be awarded to students who have shown outstanding overall academic/community, and school achievement. These scholarships will be awarded to students attending either a two-year or a four-year college.
This year’s first recipient is Nicole Giang

Nicole graduates Summa Cum Laude with a 4.4 GPA and plans to study Environmental Engineering at University of Michigan. She was an active participant in the Key Club all four years and served as Secretary in her junior and senior years. Nicole was on the Yearbook Staff for four years and was Committee Leader for two years, and Editor her senior year. She was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and was President in her senior year. Additionally, in her sophomore year, she participated in the First Ring Student Leadership Institute and served as a Group Leader. Nicole was on the Track & Field team her first two years of high school and volunteered her last two years at the Senior Center as a Tech Tutor. After college, Nicole aspires to work in wastewater treatment, focusing on containing the greenhouse gas emissions that wastewater treatment systems produce.
This year’s second recipient is Isabel Klauminzer

Isabel will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 4.42 GPA and has chosen to attend Ohio Wesleyan University with a major in Film Studies and minor in English with plans to work for film companies and potentially be an editor. She was active in high school, participating in the Yearbook Committee, International Thespian Society, Stagecrafters, Key Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Scarlet Singers, and Student Council. She held numerous offices as well, including Yearbook Editor, Scarlet Singers Section Leader and Secretary, and Key Club Vice President and President. Isabel also volunteered with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society during her senior year. She was a member of the Swim Team all four years and served as Captain her senior year. Additionally, she joined the Track & Field team for two years.
Richard Stuewe Memorial Scholarship (Fairview Park Education Foundation) — Established in 2019 by the Fairview Park Education Foundation in memory of Richard Stuewe. He was a graduate of Fairview High School and a teacher, counselor, and coach in the Fairview Park City Schools. He was an honored member of the Fairview Park Education Foundation and many other Fairview Park organizations.
The scholarship for $1,000 is awarded to a student showing outstanding academic achievement, as well as community and school participation.
This year’s recipient is Alexandra Manos

Alexandra graduates Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.24 and plans to study Biology Pre-Med at The Ohio State University. She was a Representative on the Student Council for two years and Executive Board Treasurer her senior year. Alexandra was a member of the National Honor Society during her junior and senior years and Executive Board Treasurer her senior year. She also joined Key Club sophomore year through her senior year and played Varsity Basketball all four years, serving as Captain her senior year. She was a member of the Track & Field team her first two years. Celebrating her Greek heritage, Alexandra was a member of the Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA) group all four years, serving as Secretary her senior year, played basketball for four years, volleyball for 3 years, and Greek dance all four years. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Alexandra plans to attend medical school with plans to be a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist.
Debbie Tidwell Memorial Scholarship (Fairview Park Education Foundation) — Established in 2022 by the Fairview Park Education Foundation in memory of Debbie Tidwell, a wife, mother, and friend to many. Debbie was a true education advocate for children in Fairview Park, as well as in the State of Ohio. She was an active PTA member in our local Fairview Park, as well as at the State of Ohio and National PTA levels. She served as president of our Fairview Park PTA and in many other positions during her numerous PTA years. In addition, she served on the State and National PTA boards and was the Ohio PTA President. She also served as a member of the Fairview Park City Schools Board of Education. She was an honored member of the Fairview Park Education Foundation and many other Fairview Park organizations.
The $1,000 scholarship is to be awarded to an outstanding male/female varsity soccer athlete showing great leadership, respect, and acknowledgment for outstanding sportsmanship during their sports career. Community service and volunteerism are a plus when applying for this scholarship.
This year’s recipient is Aurora Murray

Aurora is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.14 with plans to attend Ohio University and study Health Science to specialize in pediatric physical therapy to help children overcome physical challenges improving their mobility and overall quality of life. She was a 3-year member of Key Club and Yearbook Club and a 2-year member of National Honor Society. During her senior year, she was a member of the Warrior Athletic Council. As a dedicated soccer player, she played Club Soccer freshman through junior years and Varsity Soccer all four years, serving as Captain her last two years. She also joined the Track team in her freshman and sophomore years.

Debbie’s son Nolan and his fiancée Holly Rose presented the scholarship to Aurora.
2025 Polaris FHS Senior Trade Students Grant Program – Established in 2024 by the Alumni of the Fairview High School Classes of 1971, 1973, and 1982. A grant opportunity was established to promote and support Fairview High School graduating seniors who are pursuing a career in Welding, Precision CNC Machining, HVAC/R, Construction, and Automotive work. This financial award will also encourage and stimulate interest in these careers as well as make an important contribution to the local economy. The money will be used to purchase a significant component of their career job that will aid in what is needed for them to be successful after graduation.

2025 Polaris trade grant recipients were recognized along with FHS alumni Dick Cause (1973), Tammy Bertrand (1982), Heather Holdsworth (1982), and Dan Sewell (1973) and Graham Codney (Fairview Park Youth Association). The Fairview High School Class of 1971, Class of 1973, Class of 1982, and Fairview Park Youth Association funded the grants for the 2025 program.
