FALL 2024 AND SPRING 2025 GRANT RECIPIENTS

FAIRVIEW PARK EDUCATION FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES SPRING 2025 GRANT AWARDS

 Fairview Park, Ohio – On April 17, 2025, the Fairview Park Education Foundation Board of Trustees approved $7,386 plus fees in grant awards for teachers and staff of the Fairview Park City Schools.  The awarded grants include:

  • $3340  awarded to Kim Dunlap at Mayer Middle School to purchase Sphero RVR + Class Pack. This pack will “give students the ability to program and test advanced robotic functions” along with educator guides.
  • $800  awarded to Carin Lawrence at Mayer Middle School for supplies for “Math in the Real World.” The purpose of the program is to “incorporate application of math skills into real-life experiences” for the students.  The hands-on activities would include experiences such as cooking, building, finance, and statistics.
  • $1850 awarded to Hillery Needham for “Strings in Harmony: Elevating Musicianship through Sectionals, Private Lessons, and Live Music Experiences”. This grant is to purchase Cleveland Orchestra tickets and pay instructor fees to “provide Fairview string musicians with the opportunity to enhance their skills and deepen their passion for music” and to expose students to live music.
  • $900 awarded to Christine Karliak and Claire Kohl at Mayer Middle School to purchase supplies for an adaptive music class. This class is “a new music class designed specifically for middle school special education students, providing them with an authentic and appropriate musical experience as part of their school day”. 
  •  
  • $496 awarded to Janice Frygier, Lisa Zaszotek, and Chris Kaminski at Mayer Middle School and Fairview High School to purchase school supplies for the Sources of Strength club campaign entitled “Generosity”.  The purpose of this campaign is to “provide back-to-school backpacks filled with school supplies when the school year begins”. The grant will direct these backpacks to Title 1 students, selected according to need.

FAIRVIEW PARK EDUCATION FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES FALL 2025 GRANT AWARDS

Fairview Park, Ohio – On November 13, 2025, the Fairview Park Education Foundation Board of Trustees approved $6,849.34 in grant awards for teachers and staff of the Fairview Park City Schools. The awarded grants include:


● $1,000 was awarded to Lori Oxley and Andy Slack at Lewis F. Mayer Middle School and Fairview High School for their program: “Building a Growth Mindset Leading to Our Future Pathway”. The purpose of this project is “for students to learn a Growth Mindset (Grit, Determination, Perseverance, and Resilience) that can be applied to real-world problems and challenges to help them transition to a college and career pathway.”


● $1,349.03 was awarded to Zachary Broschk at Lewis F. Mayer Middle School for his program: “Snap Circuits-Learning Electricity in a Safe Environment”. Its purpose is to “provide students with a safe, hands-on way to explore the flow of electrons and core electrical principles…with tiered activities of varying difficulty to support differentiated instruction.”


● $963 was awarded to Kaitlyn Ryan at Fairview High School for her “Classroom Store: Financial Literacy and Life Skills”. The purpose is “to create a realistic classroom store environment to teach students financial literacy, basic math, social skills, and business concepts.”


● $2,037.92 was awarded to Anne Howe at Gilles Sweet Elementary School for “Instruments for Elementary Music”. The purchase of an Orff bass xylophone, gathering drums, and congas will provide the addition of updated instruments to “help students learn music through active, hands-on experiences. They align with the Fairview Park music curriculum and teaching goals.”


● $343.21 was awarded to Anne McKeown and Colleen O’Toole at Gilles-Sweet Elementary School and Lewis F. Mayer Middle School for “Extended School Year Equipment” for students in the Extended School Year summer program Sessions I and II. The purchase of water play equipment will give students “access to active recreation in an outdoor setting, using turn-taking and social skills. The water play is appropriate for verbal and nonverbal students and utilizes fine and gross motor skills with sensory input.”


● $1,156.18 was awarded to Lori Oxley and Janice Frygier at Lewis F. Mayer School for “Building a Growth Mindset Leading to Our Future Pathway”. The purpose of this project is “for students to learn a Growth Mindset (Grit, Determination, Perseverance, and Resilience) that can be applied to real-world problems and challenges to help them persevere to problem-solve difficult challenges.”


The Fairview Park Education Foundation provides grants for the staff of the Fairview Park City Schools for the enrichment of school curriculum, the enhancement of instruction, and the implementation of other appropriate activities to achieve specific educational goals. The grants are funded through individual donations and proceeds from fundraisers.
