FAIRVIEW PARK EDUCATION FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES SPRING 2025 GRANT AWARDS

 Fairview Park, Ohio – On April 17, 2025, the Fairview Park Education Foundation Board of Trustees approved $7,386 plus fees in grant awards for teachers and staff of the Fairview Park City Schools.  The awarded grants include:

  • $3340  awarded to Kim Dunlap at Mayer Middle School to purchase Sphero RVR + Class Pack. This pack will “give students the ability to program and test advanced robotic functions” along with educator guides.
  • $800  awarded to Carin Lawrence at Mayer Middle School for supplies for “Math in the Real World.” The purpose of the program is to “incorporate application of math skills into real-life experiences” for the students.  The hands-on activities would include experiences such as cooking, building, finance, and statistics.
  • $1850 awarded to Hillery Needham for “Strings in Harmony: Elevating Musicianship through Sectionals, Private Lessons, and Live Music Experiences”. This grant is to purchase Cleveland Orchestra tickets and pay instructor fees to “provide Fairview string musicians with the opportunity to enhance their skills and deepen their passion for music” and to expose students to live music.
  • $496 awarded to Janice Frygier, Lisa Zaszotek, and Chris Kaminski at Mayer Middle School and Fairview High School to purchase school supplies for the Sources of Strength club campaign entitled “Generosity”.  The purpose of this campaign is to “provide back-to-school backpacks filled with school supplies when the school year begins”. The grant will direct these backpacks to Title 1 students, selected according to need.
  • $900 awarded to Christine Karliak and Claire Kohl at Mayer Middle School to purchase supplies for an adaptive music class. This class is “a new music class designed specifically for middle school special education students, providing them with an authentic and appropriate musical experience as part of their school day”.  

The Fairview Park Education Foundation provides grants for the staff of the Fairview Park City Schools for the enrichment of school curriculum, the enhancement of instruction, and the implementation of other appropriate activities to achieve specific educational goals.  The grants are funded through individual donations and proceeds from fundraisers.
